GIRLS BASKETBALL TOP PERFORMERS
Leah Philpotts, Hamden: The junior finished with a game-high 28 points for the Dragons in their 63-48 Class LL championship win over Ludlowe. She scored 17 in Hamden’s semifinal victory over Newington.
Maddy Hughes, E.O. Smith: The senior led the way for E.O. Smith, scoring 20 points and grabbing 8 rebounds in the school’s first state title in program history, beating Pomperaug 58-46 in the Class L championship. Hughes scored 13 in the Panthers semifinal comeback win over Holy Cross.
Abby Casper, Northwest Catholic: The freshman had 25 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in the Lions’ 74-65 come-from-behind win over Kolbe Cathedral in the Class S championship game. Casper had 20 points in a semifinal win against Somers.
Maeve Staunton, Northwest Catholic:
The freshman scored 24 points with 10 assists in the Lions’ win over Kolbe Cathedral in the
Class S championship game.
Serenity Lancaster, New London:
The Whalers were led by the 6-2 sophomore who scored a gamehigh 24 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in the Class MM championship win over Mercy.
Sophie Hedge, Mercy: Playing in her final high school game, Hedge scored her 1,000th career point in the Class MM championship game against New London. She had 16 points in the game.
Claudia Schneider, Pomperaug: The senior had a game-high 23 points, including making three 3pointers in the Class L title game against E.O. Smith. Schneider had 22 points in Pomperaug’s semifinal win over Windsor.
Rory Kudzy, Ludlowe: The senior guard scored 19 points in the Class LL championship against Hamden.
Nalyce Dudley, New London: Dudley scored 18 points, leading the Whalers to a 46-34 win over Wolcott in the Class MM semifinals and 13 in the MM championship win over Mercy.
Mya Zaccagnini, Holy Cross: In her final high school game, the all-state guard led all scorers with 22 points in the Class L semifinals against E.O. Smith.
