Mary Mitchell Viscusi, a lifelong Norwalk resident, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2023, surrounded by her family. Mary was born in Norwalk, CT on July 19, 1929, the daughter of the late Helen and James Clarke.

She was predecease­d by her husband Pat Viscusi and her first husband William Mitchell as well as her brother William H. Clarke of Bath, New York. Mary was the loving mother to David W. Mitchell and Sandra L. Mitchell. In addition to her children, she is survived by her sister Helen McCarthy and her husband Edmund of Port Pierce Florida as well as many nieces and nephews.

Mary always made time to volunteer at St. Philips Church and was active in many church activities. She also volunteere­d at Central Catholic High School and was a Eucharisti­c minister at St. Philips. In 2010 Mary was awarded the Saint Augustine Medal of Service by Bishop William E. Lori, former Bishop of the Diocese of Bridgeport.

She was a member of the Norwalk Senior Center, Norwalk High School Alumni Associatio­n, life member of the Norwalk Quartette Club and the AARP Norwalk Wilton Chapter 3929. Mary was an avid sports fan rooting for the Dallas Cowboys, the Yankees and the UConn women’s basketball team.

She also loved her travels to Europe and playing bridge with her dear friends. Above all she was a dedicated wife and mother who will be missed by all.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday December 20 from 5-7 p.m. at Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk, CT. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday December 21 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Philips Church, 1 Fr. Conlon Pl., Norwalk followed by burial at Fairfield Memorial Park, 230 Oaklawn Ave. Stamford, CT. Donations can be made in Mary’s name to St. Philips Church.
