TOP PERFORMERS

Maddie Topa, Northweste­rn: The junior scored her 1,000th career point in a win over Shepaug Valley.

Shylynn Martell, Internatio­nal / Aerospace: Had 19 points in a 3733 win over Whitney Tech on opening night.

Corrine Lomax, Holy Cross: Had a double-double with 26 points and 10 rebounds in a 60-53 win over Mercy.

Bela Cucuta, Newington: Poured in 31 points in the Nor’Easters 4335 victory over East Hartford. Regan Ward, Pomperaug: Had 22 points, six rebounds and five steals in a 51-49 road win over New Canaan.

Nicole Decker, Thomaston: Twice outscored her opponents with 25 points in a 55-24 win over Housatonic and 31 in a 66-29 victory over Litchfield.

Faith Doyle, Foran: Foran beat Lauralton Hall 58-25 with Doyle scoring 19 points, making five 3pointers in the game. Doyle then had 25 points, making four 3s against Mercy.

Ryanne Gulbin, Warde: The junior scored 23 points to go along with eight rebounds and four steals during a 48-41 win over Notre Dame-Fairfield.

Sheri Oberhand, Trumbull: Scored 22 points as the Eagles beat defending SWC champion New Milford 52-41.

Maddie Benigni, Mercy: Scored 27 points, including going 6-for-6 from the free throw line in a 6460 victory against Kolbe Cathedral. Benigni followed that up with 24 points in a 58-55 win over Foran.

Catherine Sollose, Brookfield:

Had 29 points, including a 3pointer to in the final seconds to send the game to overtime in a 5552 loss to Ridgefield. She also had 24 points in a loss to New Milford. Skylene Schoen-Rene, Bacon Academy: Outscored the entire Waterford team with 24 points in a 60-23 win.

Weston Ahearn, Ansonia: Scored 23 points and had six rebounds in a win over Watertown 49-41. Emily Knowles, Conard: The junior scored 32 points in an opening night win over Maloney. Urielle Abrokwa, East Catholic: The sophomore had 15 points and 20 rebound as part of a 55-35 win over Tolland.

Lauren Thompson, SHA: Thompson scored 17 points in a win over Moses Brown (RI) and had 13 in a 80-50 win over Hand.

In the win over Hand, six SHA players scored in double figures (Morgan Miller 12; Meghan Kirck 10; Jocelyn Kingsley 11; Lyla D’Errico 14; Emily Mennillo 14).

Leah Philpotts, Hamden: In a 5940 win over Fitch, Philpotts led the way with 23 points.

Olivia Jarvis, Simsbury: In two games last week, averaged 19 points, 10 rebounds, 4.5 assists, four steals and three blocks in wins over Glastonbur­y and Enfield.

GAMES TO WATCH Thomaston at Northweste­rn, Tuesday 5:30 p.m.:

The first of two meeting for the top two teams in the Berkshire League featuring two of the state’s best players in Thomaston senior Nicole

Decker and Northweste­rn junior Maddie Topa.

Hillhouse at St. Joseph, Wednesday, 6 p.m.: Early season FCIAC-SCC showdown between two teams just outside the GameTimeCT Top 10 Poll who are looking to prove they belong among the top 10. The game features two players from the GameTimeCT 25 Players to Watch list in Hillhouse guard Dillyn Boyd and St. Joseph forward Erin Lovett.

Pomperaug at Simsbury, Friday, 5:15 p.m.:

Two more teams sitting outside the top 10 which have started their seasons off with 2-0 starts. The CCC-SWC crossover will pit Simsbury’s Amanda Gallagher against Pomperaug’s Regan Ward.

Newington at Windsor, Friday, 6:45 p.m.: Newington is ranked No. 3 and Windsor No. 4 in the GameTimeCT Preseason Top 10 Poll. Both lost games in week one but both also have All-State caliber players in Ayanna Franks of Windsor and Bela Cucuta of Newington.

Conard at Northwest Catholic, Friday, 6:45 p.m.: The defending CIAC Class S champion wants to prove it can play with the CCC’s top teams. Conard is one of those teams with two all-state caliber players in Callie Cosgrove and Emily Knowles.

New London at Boston Cathedral (MA), Saturday, 3 p.m.:

New London lost to Cathedral, a perennial Massachuse­tts state title contender, by nine points last season before making a run to the CIAC Class MM championsh­ip. All but one of the Whalers non-ECC opponents are from out of state this season.
