The former Salisbury home of the late Edward Herrmann has been listed for $2.7 million.

Herrmann is known for his role as the patriarch Richard Gilmore on the Connecticut-based “Gilmore Girls” and for his Emmy Award-winning portrayal of attorney Anderson Pearson on “The Practice.”

He died in 2014 from brain cancer.

The town of Washington Depot, which is a 45minute drive south from Salisbury, served as the inspiration for the fictional town of Stars Hollow in “Gilmore Girls,” which ran from 2000 to 2007. The town has occasionally held festivals for fans of the show looking to step into the real-life inspiration behind their favorite show.

Herrmann bought the Salisbury property in 1996 for $650,000, according to town property records. His wife, Star Herrmann, has owned the house since his death.

Connecticut native and singer Michael Bolton announced last week that he is recovering after having surgery to treat a brain tumor.

Bolton posted on his social media pages that shortly before the holidays he found out that he had a brain tumor that required “immediate surgery.” In the post, he called the surgery a “success” and thanked his medical team.

“I am now recuperating at home and surrounded by the tremendous love and support of my family,” Bolton wrote in the announcement.

The singer wrote that for the next few months, he will be focusing on recovering and will take a break from performing. This announcement comes about a month after Bolton postponed a scheduled Mohegan Sun concert for over a year.

“It is always the hardest interior that boasts six bedrooms and three-and-half bathrooms. The 6,647 squarefoot house also has a retro eat-in kitchen, living room with a fireplace, a library with a reading room and a two-car garage. The eight-acre property features a two-story, climate-controlled guest house with wood-paneled walls that could serve as a space for an artist studio or workshop, according to the listing. thing for me to ever disappoint my fans or postpone a show, but have no doubt I am working hard to accelerate my recovery and get back to performing soon. I am beyond grateful for all the love and support you have so generously shown me through the years. Know that I’m keeping your positive messages in my heart and I’ll give you more updates as soon as I can. Much love always,” the singer wrote.

“This is the first time this notable estate has been available in 27 years. It is a sprawling uniquely designed home. Being set on over eight lovely acres it offers a rare blend of true privacy yet convenience to the village of Salisbury,” said real estate agent Michael Conlogue. “To house his collection of antique cars, Mr. Herrmann built a guest house with a nicely finished three-bay garage which could be adapted for other uses. This property has a great deal to offer.”

Real estate tracking firm Redfin listed median prices for the house’s 06068 ZIP code at $1.69 million in November. Redfin notes that on average, houses in the area often sell for about one percent under the list price and are off the market in about 68 days, while the hottest houses sell for 4 percent above the asking price and are only on the market for about 37 days.

The house at 63 Main Street in Salisbury is listed by William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty; listing agent Michael Conlogue can be reached at 860-806-5237.

Bolton was born in New Haven in 1953 but now lives in Westport. He rose to fame during the ’80s and ’90s, with multiple songs topping charts, such as “When A Man Loves A Woman” and “Missing You Now.” He won two Grammy awards and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In November, he was also featured in People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive issue.
