Fields, Fairfield take down Manhattan

NEW YORK — Caleb Fields scored 25 points to help Fairfield defeat Manhattan 82-75 on Sunday.

Fields added six rebounds for the Stags (12-7, 6-2 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference). Jalen Leach added 23 points while shooting 9 for 18, including 4 for 7 from beyond the arc, and he also had five steals. Brycen Goodine was 5 of 9 shooting (3 for 5 from 3point range) to finish with 13 points.

Shaquil Bender led the way for the Jaspers (4-12, 1-6) with 21 points. Daniel Rouzan added 13 points and eight rebounds for Manhattan. Perry Cowan also had 12 points. The loss was the Jaspers' ninth straight.

Sacred Heart 66, Wagner 61:

At Fairfield, Joey Reilly scored 21 points as Sacred Heart beat Wagner. Reilly also had three steals for the Pioneers (1010, 4-1 Northeast Conference). Alex Sobel scored 14 points while shooting 5 of 7 from the field and 4 for 6 from the line, and added five rebounds. Aidan Carpenter had 12 points and was 4 of 8 shooting (2 for 4 from 3-point range).

The Seahawks (9-8, 3-2) were led by Melvin Council Jr., who recorded 14 points, six assists and two steals. Julian Brown added 13 points for Wagner. Tyje Kelton also had 10 points.

Quinnipiac 91, Iona 87: At Hamden, Doug Young led five Bobcats in double figures with 24 points as Quinnipiac won its sixth straigh MAAC game.

Amarri Tice added 19 points for the Bobcats (14-4, 6-1 MAAC), while Paul Otieno and Matt Balanc added 15 points apiece. Savion Lewis finished with 10 points for Quinnipiac.

Idan Tretout led Iona (810, 3-4 MAAC) with a gamehigh 30 points.
