Jeannette Benson Chapman

Jeannette ( Jan) Benson Chapman, beloved mother and friend, passed away peacefully on February 25th, 2024. Jan was born in Rochester, NY, on October 30, 1942. Jan graduated from Nazareth High School before marrying Robert (Bob) Williams Chapman. After they married, she spent most of her adult years in Norwalk, CT, and her final years in Vermont with her two daughters nearby.

Jan spent her life creating a loving home for her family, and working within the community providing social services, often volunteering and also working as an elementary school nurse aide in the Wilton, CT school district. Jan had strong faith and was an active member of the First Congregational Church from her arrival in Norwalk in 1976 until very recently.

Jan was predeceased by her parents, Harry Benson and Mary (Conway) Benson, her husband Bob and brother Jim Benson. She will be remembered dearly by her two daughters, Nancy Chapman and Heidi Chapman-Renaud as well as her son-in-law Daniel Renaud, her grandson William

Chapman-Renaud, her brother Tom Benson and his wife Bonnie, her sister inlaw Laurie (Chapman) Abel and her husband Howard. “Aunt Jan” loved and will be missed by her many nephews and nieces and their children.

Jan will be greatly missed by her family and friends. A celebration of Jan’s life will be held at First Congregational Church in Norwalk, CT, later this summer. In memory of Jan, the family requests any donations be made to First Congregational Church on the Green, 3 Lewis St., Norwalk, CT 06851.
