What to Watch For: Just 10 games remain in a rough season record-wise. (For only the second time since early December, this isn’t the worst (x)-game start in Bridgeport history.) Another draft pick, Matias Rajaniemi, signed an AHL contract on Tuesday. The Checkers are 12-3-2-0 since early February. Charlotte brings in even more local ties than it did in January: In addition to Darien’s Spencer Knight in goal (his 19-save shutout Weednesday in Hartford was his second in a row) and Newtown’s Mackie Samoskevich (two assists Wednesday) up front, plus Quinnipiac NCAA champ Skyler Brind’Amour, the Checkers acquired former Bridgeport D Mitch Vande Sompel from the Chicago Wolves at the AHL trade deadline.

Up next: The second kids game: Tuesday morning vs. Utica, 10:30 a.m.
