Micke Grove Her­itage Day

Her­itage Day, an event de­signed to give mu­seum vis­i­tors a taste of pi­o­neer coun­try life, is be­ing con­ducted Satur­day, July 28 at the San Joaquin County His­tor­i­cal Mu­seum.

On hand for this fam­ily event will be the Crit­ter Cor­ral with farm an­i­mals to pet. Also, do­cents dressed like pi­o­neers will be on hand to teach school lessons in­side the Calav­eras School­house and help chil­dren make rope, pan for gold, wash clothes on wash­boards and watch a black­smith work. Chil­dren also will be able to get a ride on a wagon pulled by a trac­tor.

Her­itage Day will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the mu­seum in Micke Grove Park south of Lodi, about one mile west of High­way 99 and south of Arm­strong Road.

In ad­di­tion to the event ac­tiv­i­ties, vis­i­tors will en­joy the mu­seum’s many ex­hibits in­clud­ing the In­no­va­tions in Agri­cul­ture ex­hibit on key county crops and the mu­seum’s ex­ten­sive col­lec­tions of trac­tors, agri­cul­ture equip­ment and tools.
