An early evening accident Monday, Aug. 20 resulted in the death of Troy Holder, 22, of Oakdale.

The 2014 graduate of Oakdale High School was riding his 2015 Harley-Davidson westbound on Rodden Road, east of Gray Fox Court, about 6:30 p.m. when the crash occurred.

According to the CHP report, Holder was going an estimated 60 to 65 miles per hour as he entered a sharp right hand curve in the roadway. As he entered the curve, the bike fell onto its right side and both Holder and the motorcycle slid out of the westbound lane and over into the eastbound lane of Rodden Road, directly into the path of an oncoming vehicle. That eastbound 2006 Toyota Tacoma, driven by a 36-year-old man from Knights Ferry, was traveling about 35 to 40 miles per hour approaching the curve and observed the motorcycle but was unable to react in time, with the vehicles colliding and both the motorcycle and Holder getting pinned beneath the Tacoma. The driver was able to bring the Toyota to a stop partially in the eastbound lane and partially on the south asphalt shoulder of the roadway, said the CHP.

Emergency personnel arriving on scene extricated Holder from under the vehicle; he was taken to Oak Valley Hospital in Oakdale and was pronounced dead there of injuries suffered in the crash.

Authorities said Holder was wearing a full faced motorcycle helmet and both the driver and a passenger in the Toyota were wearing their seatbelts. They both had minor injuries and indicated they would seek their own medical aid.
