Stock­ton Kings Host­ing Week­end Player Try­outs

Ear­lier this spring the NBA G-League an­nounced the re­lo­ca­tion of the Reno Bighorns to Stock­ton and the team is now known as the Stock­ton Kings. With the sea­son ap­proach­ing, the fran­chise has been busy in both the com­mu­nity and in their front of­fice. On Mon­day, Aug. 13 the team an­nounced Ty El­lis as their head coach. He brings two decades of bas­ket­ball knowl­edge to the team as he has had a suc­cess­ful ca­reer as a player and coach.

The team is now fo­cused on sur­round­ing Coach El­lis with tal­ented, driven play­ers. There will be four open player try­out dates for aspir­ing play­ers. On Satur­day, Aug. 25 and Sun­day, Aug. 26 St. Mary’s High School in Stock­ton will be the site for the first set of try­outs. The next op­por­tu­nity is sched­uled for Satur­day, Sept. 15 and Sun­day, Sept. 16 at the Stock­ton Kings Prac­tice Fa­cil­ity in Sacra­mento. All try­outs are cur­rently sched­uled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Reg­is­tra­tion must be com­pleted on­line through the team’s web­site at www. stock­tonk­ It costs $150 for a one day try­out or $250 for a two day try­out. If a player walks up to the try­out the day of, reg­is­tra­tion is $200 for one day.

Home games for the Stock­ton Kings will be at the Stock­ton Arena; the sched­ule will be re­leased at a later date.
