Notre Dame Prep’s Jason Stewart wins ‘best in show’ at regional Scholastic Art and Writing Awards
Notre Dame Prep junior Jason Stewart won the American Vision Award for his graphite drawing at Southeast Michigan’s Scholastic Art and Writing Awards this year.
This award honors the “best in show” in the 2020 regional competition. Stewart, who also won the “Silver Key” in painting, will go on to compete for the national American Vision Award. He has the chance to join a roster of noteworthy national Scholastic winners like Andy Warhol, Sylvia Plath, Truman Capote, Richard Avedon, Robert Redford, Joyce Carol Oates, Stephen King and John Updike.
“What an awesome and prestigious honor this is,” said Sandy LewAllen, Notre Dame’s art chair.
Another 57 awards were earned by 33 students at the Pontiac Catholic high school — surpassing its previous all-time record of 50 awards won in 2018.
“I am so proud of all our art students and their effort,” said LewAllen.
