New pastor coming to St. Paul Lutheran Church
A new pastor is coming later this month to the St. Paul Lutheran Church and School in downtown Royal Oak.
The Rev. Jakob Andrzejewski will become the 19th pastor at the historic church on Sunday, June 28. The church was established in 1873.
He and his wife, Rachel, look forward to visiting many of the venues in the city and he plans to make connections with various leaders in Royal Oak.
He grew up as the son of a pastor, according to a news release from the church.
Andrzejewski originally started out studying law enforcement at Eastern Michigan University, but after suffering a severe injury playing summer basket ball during his freshman year decided to become a minister.
He went on to study at Concordia University in Ann Arbor, where he met his wife, and completed his pastoral studies at Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Ind.
St. Paul Lutheran Church and School, 202 E. Fifth Street, takes part in a number of downtown community activities.
Members sponsor an Easter Egg Hunt with over 15,000 eggs at Grant Park, run a community food pantry, have activities in the school parking lot during the Royal Oak Spooktacular event, participate in the Memorial Day Parade, take part in Arts, Beats & Eats recycling and parking, and organize a National Day of Prayer with several other churches and schools.
Andrzejewski plans to assist with as many activities as he can and also implement his own outreach ministries.
