Woman pleads guilty to drug, weapons crimes
A Lyon Township woman involved in what authorities had called a suspected police impersonation incident recently pleaded guilty to drug and weapons crimes.
Leanna Paige GarciaStowe , 24, charged with possession of cocaine and carrying a concea l ed weapon, entered her plea earlier this month before Judge Michael Warren of Oakland County Circuit Court. Sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 25.
Garcia-Stowe and Leonard Charles Harris, 51, were arrested in May by undercover detectives patrolling the Kensington Place mobile home park near Grand River Avenue and I- 96. According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, the detectives said they were being shadowed by a 2010 Dodge Durango with a blue emergency light in its windshield, and after pulling it over they found a number of items leading them to believe they were dealing with a police impersonation incident.
The vehicle search turned up a police scanner, clear dash bar with police-style lighting, spotlight, police badge, 9mm handgun and starter pistol, handcuffs, ammunition, and a windshieldmounted video camera. The vehicle also had a U.S. Army police emblem on the rear window, the sheriff’s office said.
Two children, ages 2 and 1, were in the vehicle at the time and subsequently turned over to a relative, the sheriff’s office said.
Harris is charged with possession of cocaine - less than 25 grams, felon in possession of a weapon/ ammunition, and use/possession of flashing lights. His next court date is Sept. 30.
