Clarkston powers past Southfield A&T

A recap of high school sporting events reported to The Oakland Press on Thursday night:

Girls basketball CLARKSTON 74, SOUTHFIELD A&T 50

The Clarkston girls basketball team defeated Southfield A&T on Thursday night by a score of 74-50.

Clarkston was led by Keira Tolmie, who had 13 points. Madison Skorupski nearly had a triple-double with 12 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists. Both Kaelyn Kaul and Izzy Hadely each had 12 points for the Wolves.

ROYAL OAK 43, NORTH FARMINGTON 31

Royal Oak improved to 3-3 on the season Thursday night thanks to a 43-31 win over North Farmington.

Sarah Soraghan had 15 points and four steals to lead the Ravens, while Sarah Ammon scored six points.

Sela Lefler led North Farmington with 10 points.

OXFORD 42, TROY ATHENS 38

The Oxford girls basketball team edged Troy Athens on Thursday night, 42-38.

Oxford was led in the win by Mackenzie Methner, who had 14 points.

Skylar Emerson had 12 points and four rebounds to lead the Red Hawks, while Clara Shoales had 11 points with four rebounds.

WEST BLOOMFIELD 75, GROVES 51

West Bloomfield stayed unbeaten in OAA play on Thursday, besting Birmingham Groves 75-51.

Logan Lewis led the Lakers with 14 points and three steals while Indya Davis added 13 points and six rebounds. Sydney Hendrix scored 11, while Zaneiya Batiste scored 10.

LAKE ORION 54, AVONDALE 30

The Lake Orion girls basketball team picked up another win on Thursday, besting Auburn Hills Avondale 54-30.

Kylie Heck and Meghan Marshall each had 13 points to lead the Dragons

in the victory.

ROCHESTER ADAMS 52, BLOOMFIELD HILLS 40

Rochester Adams picked up another OAA victory on Thursday night with a 52-40 victory over Bloomfield Hills.

Lauren Petersmark had 17 points to lead the Highlander­s in the win, while Madison Kesman had 10. Abbey Drahnak had eight points, four rebounds and three steals as well.

MARIAN 72, BISHOP FOLEY 51

Birmingham Marian defeated Madison Heights Bishop Foley on Thursday night 72-51.

Abby Pasinos led the Ventures with 17 points, while Ryan Moorer scored 13.

FARMINGTON 35, OAK PARK 22

Farmington improved to 6-1 on the season and 2-0 in the OAA Gold with a 35-22 win over Oak Park on Thursday night.

Autumn Bartlett had eight points to lead the Falcons in the victory.

CLAWSON 35, LAMPHERE 26

The Clawson girls basketball team picked up a 35-26 win over

Madison Heights Lamphere on Thursday night.

Abbey Lodato had 12 points, four rebounds and four steals to lead the Trojans in the win. Natalie Champine had six points, while Aliyah Vesper pulled down nine rebounds.

COUNTRY DAY 60, SOUTHFIELD CHRISTIAN 18

Detroit Country Day proved to be too much for Southfield Christian, as the Yellowjack­ets earned a 60-18 win over Southfield Christian on Thursday.

Emma Arico had 17 points and six rebounds to lead Detroit Country Day, while Jaidyn Elam had 16 points, eight steals, six assists and six rebounds.

Southfield Christian was led by Rachel Cairo, who had six points.

Boys basketball ST. MARY’S 62, HENRY FORD 49

Top-ranked Orchard Lake St. Mary’s moved to 5-0 on the 2021 season Thursday night with a 6249 win over Henry Ford.

Kareem Rozier had 16 points to lead the Eaglets in the win, while Julian Roper II had 15 points and Will Smythe had 12.
