School district taking survey on new superintendent
Focus groups, forums also to be used in choosing next district leader
The Farmington Public Schools is conducting a survey to gather input on the qualities sought in the next superintendent.
Use this link to complete the survey: https:// www.surveymonkey. com/r/B9X7KWC, now through March 19.
The district asks that each person respond only once to the survey. It is designed to allow only one response per device.
The information gathered from focus groups, open forums and the survey will be used to create a profile of the district’s next leader. All responses are anonymous and confidential.
A report summarizing all community engagement results will be published on the district’s website, farmington.k12. mi.us, after March 20.
Superintendent Robert Herrera resigned last November after serving a little more than a year. He filed a complaint with the district about alleged harassment by Board of Education member Angie Smith.
Smith had complained that Herrera did not do enough for AfricanAmerican students and staff, according to several sources.
The board passed a resolution accepting Herrera’s resignation and providing severance pay of $105,000. The agreement makes his complaint against Smith moot.
Bobbie Hayes Goodrum, former assistant superintendent for diversity, equity and inclusion, is serving as interim superintendent while the district conducts a search for a permanent replacement.
The Board of Education voted last month to hire the search firm School Exec Connect to assist in hiring a new superintendent.
