• Berkley DDA is hosting two events: “March Into Berkley” through April 2. For every $40 people spent at participating businesses, customers receive $20in Berkley Bucks to spend at those businesses; and “Ladies Night Out-Take Me Out To Berkley”, is two nights, April 1-2, DowntownBerkley.com.
• The Oakland University Center for Autism is offering a free virtual Autism Awareness series to observe Autism Awareness Month. The series kicks off at noon April 2 on World Autism Awareness Day with former Michigan Lieutenant Governor Brian Calley. Working with People with Autism: Opportunities through OU is noon-1p.m. April 8; Insights From a Late Autism Diagnosis is 6-7p.m. April 15and Collaborations and Innovations: Recent Research from the OU Center for Autism is noon-1p.m. April 22.
• The Holocaust Memorial Center is hosting its annual communitywide Yom HaShoah Holocaust Remembrance Day commemoration, 7p.m. April 8at www.holocaustcenter.org. Throughout the day, the center will host “Unto Every Person There is a Name”, a worldwide Holocaust memorial project where volunteers recite the names of victims of the Holocaust. Fundraisers
• Jersey Mike’s Day of Giving is 10 a.m.-9 p.m. March 31, with proceeds from sales at participating Jersey Mike’s Detroit-area locations to be donated to local children’s charities including Beaumont Children’s, a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital, www. beaumont.org/shc. • The Zonta Club of Milford is hosting its 9th Annual Gala event, 6:30p.m. April 13, partnering with Milford’s Clothing Cove. This year, the auction will be on Zoom and on Facebook live. • Rather than hosting its annual National Pancake Day fundraiser on one day, IHOP restaurants announced a month-long event, issuing an IOU coupon for a free short stack with a $10purchase, to be redeemed during the month of April. • Sterling Heights based Stahls, a manufacturer of garment decoration materials and equipment, announces the Stahl Family Small Business Fund, a scholarship program for garment design entrepreneurs. Pure Imagination Scholarships will be awarded to 21 entrepreneurs in 2021, providing them with coaching, materials and equipment to start and grow a custom garment business. The deadline to apply

Student essay contests
• EVERFI virtual Financial Literacy Bee scholarship essay contest is open to students ages 13-18is April 1-15. The program features digital lessons, followed by a capstone essay contest, in which students will be asked to share a short-term or longterm savings goal and outline their plan to achieve that goal. Three nationwide winners of the EVERFI Financial Literacy Bee will share in a total of $20,000 in college scholarships, with a $10,000prize for first place, $6,000for second and $4,000 for the third-place winner. • Annual Rochester American Association of University Women 8th Grade Essay contest about “A Woman of Significance to Me.” Prizes of $100, $75and $50will be awarded to the first, second and third place winners.
