A Hazel Park man charged with felony aggravated stalking faces a hearing in Ferndale 43rd District Court on Thursday.

Suspect Isaah M. Hilligoss, 25, is also charged in Hazel Park with earlier assaulting the woman he is charged with stalking in Ferndale.

Police said the Ferndale woman is Hilligoss’ exgirlfriend, and they have a child together.

He is currently jailed on a $100,000 cash bond for failing to appear for a scheduled court hearing in Hazel Park, and a $7,500 cash bond in the Ferndale aggravated stalking case.

Hazel Park police said Hilligoss attacked the woman early May 4 as she was walking along Dequindre Road just north of Eight Mile Road.

Hazel Park police Detective Lt. William Hamel said the suspect had a broomstick in his hand when he approached the woman.

“The victim stated he began to swear at her, called her names, and struck her in the abdomen with the broomstick,” Hamel said. “And he punched her four or five times in the face and arms.”

Police said Hilligoss ran away after the beating. The woman contacted her mother and reported the incident to Hazel Park police, who noted she had welts on her abdomen and right arm.

He was arraigned in Hazel

Park 43rd District Court on May 5 and released on a $2,500 surety bond.

However, Oakland County prosecutors issued a warrant for Hilligoss’ arrest after he failed to appear for his Hazel Park hearing.

Police said the suspect showed up in Ferndale at about 8 p.m. on June 27.

“The victim contacted us and said he was down the street from where she lives and threatening to kick down the door to her house,” said Ferndale police Detective Brendan Moore.

Moore said the woman told police that Hilligoss contacted her by text and sent messages through Facebook.

“She says he is jealous and she is just trying to move on with her life without the suspect,” Moore said. “He has a history of domestic violence.”

Ferndale police went to the street where the woman lives and found the suspect sitting in a parked car.

Police said he admitted texting the woman and was arrested.

Hilligoss has misdemeanor convictions on his record in Ferndale for domestic violence in 2018 and malicious destruction of property in 2019. He was also convicted of malicious destruction of property in Madison Heights in 2015 and in Hazel Park last year, police said.

The suspect has a probable cause hearing at 1:30 p.m. Thursday before Ferndale District Judge Joseph Longo.
