A motorcyclist crashed head-on into an SUV on Wednesday afternoon in Brandon Township, resulting in his death, officials said.

Killed was a 53-year-old man from Davison.

According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and a crew from the Brandon Township Fire Department responded to Oakland Road west of Tonda Drive shortly after 2 p.m. on a report of a crash involving two vehicles. The motorcycle driver was transported to Genesys Regional Medical Center in Grand Blanc where he died from his injuries, the sheriff’s office said. The crash also caused minor injuries to the SUV driver, a 44-year-old man from Holly, and a 3-year-old passenger.

Results from an investigation by the Oakland County Crash Reconstruction Unit so far show that the motorcycle was westbound on Oakwood Drive when the driver lost control, crossed the center line and struck the SUV. Alcohol doesn’t appear to have been a factor in the crash, the sheriff’s office said, which remains under investigation.

This was the first of two fatal motorcycle crashes that happened within 15 hours of each other in Oakland County. At around 5 a.m. on Thursday, a 43-yearold Rochester Hills man was killed in Pontiac when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a Jeep Grand Cherokee and burst into flames, the sheriff’s office said.

The Jeep was reportedly making a left turn in front of the motorcycle when the collision occurred. Drugs and alcohol don’t appear to be factors in the crash, the sheriff’s office said. This incident is also under investigation.
