An auto theft surveillance collaboration of law enforcement groups from Oakland, Macomb and Wayne counties has led to the arrest of three teenagers facing charges for allegedly stealing high-end vehicles, officials said.

Detroit residents Leondre Chansey Jones and Deangelo Brown Jr., both 17, and Anthony Edward Barrett, 18, of Harper Woods, are each charged with receiving and concealing stolen property over $10,000, carrying a concealed weapon, and using a firearm in the commission of a felony. They were arraigned this week in 18th District Court in Westland and are scheduled to appear for a pre-examination conference on Sept. 30. Bond was set at $15,000 cash/surety with a 10 percent provision.

Five vehicles including a Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk valued at $100,000 were recovered in Dearborn and Southfield, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, and three loaded handguns were confiscated.

“There has been a spike of larceny from autos and auto thefts, and through the great partnership with all of the local police agencies, a very prolific armed criminal group has been stopped in their tracks,” Oakland

County Sheriff Michael Bouchard stated in a news release. “Now, they need to be held accountable.”

Participants in the law enforcement collaboration included Canton, Farmington Hills, Hazel Park, Livonia, West Bloomfield, Novi, Warren, Sterling Heights, Eastpointe, Clinton Township, St. Clair Shores, Centerline, Roseville, Southfield, Warren, Waterford and Westland police departments, as well as Macomb County and Oakland County sheriff’s offices. Police K-9 units from various agencies were also used and the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office assisted with air support with its aviation unit, the sheriff’s office said.
