Memorial Day is Monday, May 30, honoring those who lost their lives serving in the military. The following activities are planned:

Auburn Hills

• The American Legion Post 143Memoria­l Day Parade is 10:30a.m. May 30, starting at Avondale High School, 2800 Waukegan St., Auburn Hills, then north on Squirrel Road, to Aaron Webster Cemetery for a ceremony, then to Mother’s Plaque for a prayer and to Post 143, at 96Churchil­l, for a free luncheon, open to the public. • The City of Birmingham Memorial Day service is 10a.m. May

Clarkston

• Clarkston American Legion Post 63to have a brief ceremony at 10a.m. May 30, at Lakeview Cemetery, 6150White Lake Road. Farmington

• The Farmington Memorial Day Parade is 10a.m. May 30, near the intersecti­on of Grand River Avenue and Orchard Lake Road and will travel west on Grand

River and end at Oakland Street, where a ceremony will take place at the Farmington War Memorial Monument in Memorial Park. Ferndale

• The Ferndale Memorial Day Parade is the oldest Memorial Day celebratio­n in the state of Michigan. • The Village of Holly Memorial Day Parade begins at 10a.m.

Keego Harbor

• The Keego Harbor Memorial Day Ceremony is at 9:30a.m., at Veterans Memorial Plaza followed by the Memorial Day Parade at 10a.m. May 30. The parade starts at the north end of Keego Harbor at Beachland Blvd. and Cass Lake Road and heads south on Cass Lake to Beland Avenue. Leonard

• The Leonard Cemetery Memorial Day Ceremony starts at noon, Saturday, May 28, at Lakeville Cemetery, 825Drahner Road with a Potluck Picnic to follow. Bring lawn chairs and arrive early, parking is limited, 248-759-9770.

Milford

• The Milford Memorial Day Parade is at 11 a.m. May 30, starting at American Legion Post 216, 510W. Commerce Road and will proceed south on Main Street, ending in Milford’s Central Park with a ceremony at noon. Flyovers are planned. The day-long event will include a display of military vehicles on Main Street prior to the parade, 313-701-8000.

Northville

• Northville VFW Post 4012 to host Memorial Day Parade at 10a.m. May 30, starting on Griswold at Northville Downs and proceeding west on Main Street to Hutton, to Dunlap, to south on Center to Cady, west on Cady, stopping at Oakwood Cemetery, then proceeding to First, Fairbrook, and ending at noon at the Veterans’ Memorial at Rural Hill Cemetery. 215W. Novi

• The City of Novi to host patriotic concert and flag honor walk to commemorat­e the lives of our service members at 5:30p.m. May 25, at Fuerst Park, Ten Mile and Taft Roads. The event will conclude with a wreath laying, playing of “Taps”, twenty-onegun salute, and a moment of silence and reflection to remember those who were lost. This event is open to the community. Commemorat­ive flags and medallions lining the pathways of Fuerst Park will be on display throughout Memorial Day weekend. Veterans are invited to attend as special guests. • VFW Post 582to host Ortonville’s Memorial Day parade at 9:30a.m. May 30, beginning at the corner of Church and

• The City of Troy to host Salute Our Fallen Veterans Memorial Day Ceremony, Monday, May 30 at 10a.m. at Veterans Memorial Plaza in front of Troy City Hall, 500W. Big Beaver Road, Troy. The keynote speaker is USAF Senior Master Sergeant David L. Bowers, Superinten­dent for the 191st Aircraft Maintenanc­e Squadron, Selfridge Air National Guard Base. The event includes music from the Troy Heritage Concert Band and the raising of the colors by the Troy Police Department
