Public invited to enter photo contest celebrating city
The city of Southfield is sponsoring a photography contest to showcase the city’s natural and architectural beauty.
Those who live, work, worship or attend school in Southfield are invited to enter the Photo Prize contest, and the public may vote for their favorite among 25 finalists.
The deadline to submit a photo is May 26. Here are the criteria:
• The entry must be an original digital color or black and white photograph of a Southfield landmark or other subject matter shot within the city’s boundaries. Photographs with no obvious photo editing taken in any season or format are acceptable.
• Photographs must be high resolution, at least 300 DPI (dots per inch) and 2,000 pixels submitted in JPEG, TIFF or PDF file format, which can be achieved with most cameras and phones.
• Each photographer may submit up to three shots for consideration.
• Submissions must be emailed as an attachment to PhotoContest@cityofsouthfield.com. Submissions may also be mailed on a CD or USB flash drive to: Southfield Community Relations Department, 26000 Evergreen Road, P.O. Box 2055, Southfield, MI 48037-2055.
Submissions will be reviewed by the Total Living Commission, which will select the top 25 entries that will be eligible for public voting.
The 25 finalist photos will be enlarged and displayed outside on the grounds of City Hall and the Parks & Recreation Building.
The community is encouraged to visit all of the entries and vote for their favorite online at www. cityofsouthfield.com.
The 25 finalist photos will be posted on the city’s website for public judging from June 12-Sept. 1.
The photo that receives the most overall votes will be featured in the city’s 2024 calendar with a photo credit. Other finalists may also be featured in the calendar and other city marketing materials.
The photograph that receives the most votes will be announced at an awards ceremony in September.
Prizes and gift certificates from local businesses will be awarded to the top three winners.
