Veterans Resource Fair is set for June 29
The Oakland County Veterans Resource Fair is from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, June 29, at the Oakland County Executive Office Building Conference Center, Building 41-W, at 2100 Pontiac Lake Road in Waterford
Twp.
Representatives will be on site to serve all veterans, active duty, guard and reserves, and their families with resources including free nonperishable food boxes.
• Gary Burnstein Community Health Clinic: Scheduling free dental appointments.
• Detroit VA Healthcare System: Offering registration help and exams for non-enrolled veterans.
• Oakland County Health Department: COVID-19 vaccines based on CDC guidance.
• Dorsey College Cosmetology Program: Hairstylists will be on site giving free haircuts to veterans.
• Oakland County Veterans’ Services: Provide information and claims assistance regarding veteran’s benefits and give away $50 Meijer gift cards. To be eligible for a gift card, must be a veteran and an Oakland County resident and must present a copy of DD214.
• Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency: Printing DD214’s on site.
• Oakland County Michigan Works!: Providing veterans and their families with career planning, training programs, job search resources and the opportunity to meet with an employment specialist.
• Oakland County Neighborhood & Housing Development: Helping residents with housing counseling.
• Oakland County Parks & Recreation: Giving out free annual vehicle permits.
• Oakland Community Health Network: Addressing any behavioral health issues and concerns, including behavioral health needs for children.
• VA Suicide Prevention: Providing free gun locks.
• Ride SMART: Providing information on their veteran transportation program.
• New LED light bulb kits will also be available courtesy of DTE and SEEL, LLC.

Oakland County Veterans Services to host workshop for veteran-owned business owners
Oakland County Veterans Services to host “How to Promote Your VeteranOwned Business” from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday,
June 22, at the Waterford Activity Center, 2800 Watkins Lake Road, Waterford Twp.
Veterans who want to grow and plan for the future of their business are invited to attend this workshop to find out what resources are available to them.

Oakland County Parks offers promotional vouchers to veterans and current military service members
In observance of May Military Appreciation Month, Oakland County Parks is recognizing individuals who have served or are currently serving in the military with a promotional voucher for one of the following: One free night at a campsite at either Addison Oaks County Park near Rochester or Groveland Oaks County Park in Holly; One free visit to Red Oaks Waterpark in Madison Heights or Waterford Oaks Wave Pool in Waterford Twp.; or one free entry to Holly Oaks ORV Park.
This offer is only valid for Oakland County residents. Vouchers must be claimed in person at Addison Oaks, Groveland Oaks, Independence Oaks, Orion Oaks, Lyon Oaks, Red Oaks, the Recreation Programs and Services office at Waterford Oaks and Waterford Oaks Waterpark. Vouchers are non-transferable and are limited to one per eligible person. Vouchers expire at the end of the 2023 season. Vouchers are subject to facility capacity restrictions as necessary.
Oakland County Parks also offers veterans and active military personnel who are eligible a free annual vehicle permit that offers access to trails, dog parks, playgrounds, beaches at Groveland

The ceremony is to be attended by dignitaries from Poland, Canada, France and the U.S. New gravestones have been provided by Poland’s Institute of National Remembrance.
