Barron Industries of Oxford is hosting a centennial celebration and open house, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday, June 19.

The event will celebrate Barron’s 100th year as a family-owned, Michiganbased manufacturing company. Founded in 1923 as a Detroit foundry producing 60-ton sand castings, the company has grown into a global manufacturer of precision cast parts and machined components for aerospace, defense, automotive, and other industries.

The event, which is open to the public, will feature plant tours, 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. at the facility at 215 Plexus Drive, Oxford, off of M-24. A Stryker military vehicle will be on site for viewing.

The Centennial Celebration begins at 11 a.m. featuring remarks by Oakland County Executive David Coulter, Rep. Lisa McClain, General Dynamics Land Systems SCM Director Michael Patton, and Barron Industries President/CEO Bruce Barron. An Honor Guard from Selfridge Air National Guard Base will post colors, and a flyover by the Tuskegee Airmen is scheduled for 11:15 a.m. A luncheon is at noon.

“Our purpose is to honor our employees, suppliers and customers who have supported Barron over the years.” Bruce Barron, president and CEO of Barron Industries, said in a press release.

“We will have an Honor Guard from Selfridge, as well as a flyover by the Tuskegee Airmen to honor our military — our biggest customer. We are especially thrilled to be able to recognize the contributions of our African American military on Juneteenth,” said Barron.

The company will make a donation to the Oxford Fire Department’s Stop the Bleed initiative during the event.

Barron Industries, and its employee Dakota King were recently honored with an Impact Award from the Michigan Works! Association, in recognition of the employer’s commitment to workforce development.
