Stoney Creek’s Lilley Bosley (20) holds off Romeo’s Ava Kelley (8) during D1District semi-final played earlier this year. Bosley had the lone goal in the Cougars 1-0win en route to an eventual state title and a second straight Ms. Soccer award for Bosley.

The hardware is piling up both at Stoney Creek and in the Bosley household.

Two days after the reigning Ms. Soccer scored twice in the Division 1 title game to lead the Cougars to their second state title, University of Michigan-bound senior forward Lilley Bosley was again named the winner of the statewide award as the best of the best in girls soccer this year by the Michigan High School Soccer Coaches Association it was announced Monday.

“All year [—] 42 goals on the schedule that we have is not an easy task,” Cougars head coach Bryan Mittelstadt said after Saturday’s championship game. “You can’t just throw a kid up in

Photos and more at: our league or in a game we play. You’ve got to have a kid who finds windows, finds opportunities. And she can do it in the air, on the ground, take shots, all different kinds of things. She’s very composed, very patient. She doesn’t panic, and she’s got a good cast of kids that really support her.”

She’s the third player in MIHSSCA history to earn the award in back-to-back seasons, joining Hudsonville Unity Christian’s Laura Heyboer in 2007 and 2008, and Canton’s Anne Morrell in 2000 and 2001.

Bosley scored 95 of Stoney Creek’s 231 points on the season, recording 42 of the 81 goals scored, and 11 assists, leading Stoney Creek to a 26-1-1 record, and its first title since 2016.

Stoney’s only loss was to crosstown rival Rochester Adams, 2-0, along with a 1-1 tie with Rochester, leaving the Cougars in second place in the Oakland Activities Association’s Red Division and the No. 3 slot in the final MIHSSCA regular-season rankings.

Oakland County players have claimed the award each of the last five times it was given out, and 18 of the last 33 completed seasons. Novi and Troy Athens leads with three awards each in that span, followed by Stoney Creek, Birmingham Detroit Country Day, Birmingham Seaholm and Troy with two each.
