Tuesday Musicale of Greater Pontiac to present massed handbell choir concert
Tuesday Musicale of Greater Pontiac continues their 100th year celebration with the presentation of the Second Annual Massed Handbell Choir Concert.
Tuesday Musicale’s Vice President Sandra Bellew welcomes the public to the massed handbell festival. There is no admission fee for this concert but contributions are always appreciated. Due to the overwhelming response to the first, 2023 concert, it was determined that a larger venue was needed to accommodate the overflow audience. Thus, on Sunday, April 14, at 4 p.m., the handbell choirs will perform at the Clarkston United Methodist Church’s Community Center, 6600 Waldon Road, Clarkston. This concert was formed under the direction of Judy Phillips and consists of handbell choirs from the surrounding areas and may include from eighty to eighty-five ringers.
The participating choirs are: Laudate Bells, Rochester Hills University Presbyterian Church — Nina Flanigan, director; Jubilation Ringers, Clarkston United Methodist Church — Judy Mellen, director; Orchard Lake Community Church, Presbyterian — Bruce Snyder, director; Wesley Ringers, St. Paul United Methodist Church, Rochester — Al Fisk, director; Tuesday Musicale’s Bellissima! — Judy Phillips, director; Adele Thomas Ringers! — Judy Phillips, director and Adele Thomas Ringers together with Bellissima! — Judy Phillips, director. The above choirs will play one solo selection.
The Massed Choir will be joined by Silver Bells, Windsor, Ontario — Dale Burkhardt, director, and the Cranbrook Ringers, Christ Church Cranbrook, Bloomfield Hills — Judy Phillips, director. The massed ringer’s selections are “Processional Jubilee” by Anna Laura Page, directed by Judy Phillips, “Grazioso” by Arnold B. Sherman, Al Fisk directing and “Dance of the Five” by Derek Hakes, Judy Mellen directing.
Following the concert, refreshments will be available provided by the Clarkston church and a very special thank you is given to the Clarkston United Methodist Church for the use of their Community Center. For information about this concert call Sandra Ballew at (248) 830-8522.
