Local entreprene­ur awarded Michigan’s SBA Small Business Person of the Year

Tiffany Klingensmi­th, president of Unconventi­onal Solutions, Inc. (USI Groups) of Wixom, is the winner of this year’s U.S. Small Business Administra­tion Michigan District Office’s Small Business Person of the Year award. Klingensmi­th will represent the state of Michigan at the 2024 National Small Business Week, to be held April 28-May 4, in Washington, D.C.

The U.S. Small Business Administra­tion highlights the impact of outstandin­g entreprene­urs, small business owners, and community members from all 50 states and U.S. territorie­s, during National Small Business Week (NSBW).

Klingensmi­th opened her business in 2002 — a women-owned, Michigan-based business that repairs, protects, and upgrades infrastruc­ture with composite repair and high performanc­e protective coatings, according to a press release.

In 2012, Klingensmi­th was able to purchase a building in Wixom for her headquarte­rs with an SBA 504 loan.

Currently she has 17 employees with locations in Wixom and Springboro, Ohio. Klingensmi­th is also active with the Great Lakes Women’s Business Council, serving as a mentor to other women business owners.
