Nichols Hills attorney faces new complaints

- BY TIM WILLERT

A Nichols Hills attorney arrested on complaints of filing a false police report and child endangerment told police she was under the influence of crystal methamphetamine when she appeared to be hallucinating.

Amy L. Mcteer was very upset and speaking extremely fast in the early hours of Dec. 23 when she was interviewed by Nichols Hills police officers investigating a home invasion call that turned out to be a false alarm, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Mcteer, 39, told police two armed black males had forced their way into her home at 6702 Trenton Road. She said a man named “M&M” told her he had “a hit on her,” police reported.

She told police that someone had come into the house without her permission and drank her water. She also said she found “a pile of dog poop” in her son’s room, but when police investigated they found no dog feces on the floor and no sign of forced entry.

Mcteer accused one of the officers of intimidating her children, according to the report. She said she believed the officer was related to an ex-boyfriend she says is harassing her.

During her interview with police, Mcteer’s “lips were white and she continuously licked them,” police reported, adding that “her pupils were dilated and her movements were jerky.”

At one point, Mcteer became “angry and argumentative.” When one of the officers asked Mcteer “what she was on” she said “Ice.”

Ice is a potent, smokable form of methamphetamine known as “glass” or “ice” because it resembles rock candy or a chip of ice.

Four children inside the home, two belonging to Mcteer, were interviewed by police and placed in state custody, Nichols Hills Police Chief Richard Mask said.

“We didn’t feel the children needed to be in the house,” he said.

In an unrelated case, Mcteer is accused of helping her boyfriend escape from prison. She is charged in Oklahoma County District Court with harboring a fugitive, a felony. And she is charged with assisting a prisoner escape, also a felony, in Canadian County District Court.

Roy G. Kuykendall, 35, escaped July 9 from the Union City Community Corrections Facility, officials said. Mcteer represented him in 2008 after he was caught in Elk City with methamphetamine while on probation, court records show.

An official with the Oklahoma Bar Association would not confirm whether Mcteer is being investigated for misconduct, but the state agency requested a copy of Mcteer’s arrest report from the Oklahoma County District Court clerk’s office for that very purpose, The Oklahoman learned.

“Anytime there are allegations of drug abuse by an attorney it causes us concern, but we cannot comment on ongoing investigations,” said Gina Hendryx, general counsel for the bar association.
