Youths begin annual Camp Fire candy sale

Camp Fire Heart of Oklahoma youths have begun their annual candy sales.

Camp Fire candy sales celebrate a long tradition of character building. Members also learn about giving back to service members through the candy sale.

When children sell candy, they build social skills, develop leadership abilities and gain confidence, according to a news release from Camp Fire.

They also learn about setting and achieving goals, which are rewarded with an array of prizes.

Further, they learn the importance and responsibility of handling money.

Donate to military

Another option that Camp Fire youths offer is to buy candy for members of the armed forces. Customers can donate money to send candy to military personnel, regionally and overseas.

“I love that I can donate a box of Camp Fire candy to our troops,” customer Kim Knight said. “They do so much for us; it’s an easy way to give back to them.”

Last year, Camp Fire donated several boxes of candy, including to service members at Fort Sill.

Customers can purchase candy for themselves or donate candy to the armed forces through designated site sales at retail locations.

Types available

Candy for sale includes Almond Roca, Smooth Mint Patties, Caramel Almond Clusters, Trail Mix and P’Nuttles. Also for sale are Caramel Whirls, Chocolate Covered Almonds and Milk Chocolate Almond Bars.

Candy prices range from $2 to $5.

The sale ends Feb. 18.

Credit toward camp

By selling candy, youth members can earn credit toward Camp Fire Heart of Oklahoma’s summer camp at Camp DaKaNi.

The day camps incorporate decades-long Camp Fire traditions that continue to educate youths about confidence, leadership and compassion.
