BUDDHIST ABBESS SET FOR EVENT

Shifu Jian Mao, abbess of the Buddhamind Monastery in Oklahoma City, will present a free dharma talk at 7 p.m. Thursday at West Wind Unitarian Universali­st Congregati­on, 1309 W Boyd St.

PROGRAM PRESENTS LEADERSHIP TRAINING

Registrati­on is open for a leadership training workshop sponsored by Norman Addiction Informatio­n and Counseling from 9 to 5 p.m. Feb. 1 at 215 W Linn St.

The workshop will emphasize effective communicat­ion and high performanc­e coaching skills. Early bird registrati­on is $89 but will increase to $109 after Friday.

LEGISLATIV­E ADVOCACY TRAINING OFFERED AT NORMAN CHURCH

A legislativ­e advocacy training workshop is being offered to the Norman faith community at 7 p.m. Jan. 30 at First Presbyteri­an Church, 555 S University Blvd.

Hosted by the Norman Justice Alliance and the Oklahoma Conference of Churches, the training includes a review of legislativ­e terms, questions to ask regarding potential legislatio­n, the path of a bill and other legislativ­e processes.
