Uihlein tied for lead at Irish Open

Former Oklahoma State golfer Peter Uihlein and England’s Robert Rock shared the second-round lead in the Irish Open in Maynooth, Ireland, Friday.

Uihlein, who won the Madeira Islands Open last month, had a 4-under 68 to match Rock (66) at 9-under 135 at Carton House.

PARK LEADS WOMEN’S OPEN

Inbee Park led the U.S. Women’s Open with the second round suspended by fog.

The top-ranked Park shot a 4-under 68 for a 9under total to lead fellow South Korean I.K. Kim by two strokes in Southampto­n, N.Y. The horn sounded with Park on the 18th fairway, and the group finished the hole. She calmly sank a birdie putt from about 12 feet to move closer to history.

SPIETH SHARES LEAD

Jordan Spieth hit every green in regulation and extended his streak to 29 holes without a bogey on a tough Congressio­nal course in Bethesda, Md., giving him a 5-under 66 and a share of the lead with Roberto Castro (69) before storms halted the second round of the AT&T National. They were at 7under 135, with the round to be completed Saturday morning.

FEVER STOPS SHOCK

Tamika Catchings scored a season-high 28 points after missing two games because of a lower back injury, helping the defending WNBA champion Indiana Fever beat the Tulsa Shock 80-69 in Indianapol­is. Nicole Powell had a season-high 21 points for the Shock (3-11), including 19 in the first half.

MURRAY WINS AT WIMBLEDON

Andy Murray gave value for money on a gloomy, rainy day at Wimbledon as the second seed beat Tommy Robredo 6-2, 6-4, 7-5 to move into the third round under the Centre Court roof.

The 2012 finalist extended his grass-court win streak to 14 matches as he controlled Spain’s Robredo, breaking late in the third set to assure the win in two hours.

FOX SPORTS LOOKING TO EXPAND NASCAR PROGRAMMIN­G

Fox Sports is looking to expand its NASCAR programmin­g beyond its recent eight-year, $2.4 billion extension of broadcast rights of the Sprint Cup Series. Fox is involved in discussion­s to broadcast at least half of the Nationwide Series as well as adding some additional Cup races beyond its current extension, sources close to the negotiatio­ns told The Charlotte Observer. Currently, ABC/ESPN broadcasts the entire Nationwide schedule.

Sources told the Observer Fox is looking to perhaps add some of the Cup races broadcast by TNT to its lineup and broadcast the Nationwide Series during the same period on the schedule. The Nationwide races would likely appear on Fox Sports 1, which replaces Speed Channel in August.

KESELOWSKI WINS NATIONWIDE RACE

Brad Keselowski took his final lead on the 156th lap and went on to a rain-shortened victory in the NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Kentucky Speedway.

Showers halted the race at lap 170 in the scheduled 200-lap event, but drivers were expecting it to resume before another pocket of rain forced officials to call it off. Elliott Sadler was second.
