OKC sweeps Nashville

NASHVILLE — Jonathan Villar and Brandon Laird each had four hits Friday night to help the Oklahoma City RedHawks sweep a doublehead­er from the Nashville Sounds before 5,250 fans at Herschel Greer Stadium.

GAME 1 AT THE PLATE

The RedHawks managed just one extra-base hit — a George Springer double — in their 5-1, nine-inning victory. Oklahoma City clubbed nine total hits, including two each from Villar, Laird and Jon Singleton. Carlos Perez led the Hawks with two RBIs. Oklahoma City scored four runs off Nashville reliever Travis Webb, but only two of those were earned. The Sounds committed two errors in the game. Sounds on no hits and no walks.

GAME 2 AT THE PLATE

Villar doubled and hit his eighth homer of the season in a 6-3 triumph. The home run came on the first at bat of the seven-inning nightcap. ... Springer clubbed his first Triple-A homer since joining the RedHawks. He had 19 homers and 55 RBIs for Double-A Corpus Christi at the time of the promotion. ... Villar had three RBIs in the second game. ... Nashville took a brief 2-1 lead in the bottom of the first inning. The Hawks tied it in the second inning, then took the lead for good with a three-run fourth inning.

ON THE MOUND

Josh Zeid threw the final inning for Oklahoma City and notched his seventh save of the season.

Nashville (28-54) hosts Oklahoma City (43-38) for a single game at 6:35 p.m. Lefty Chris Narveson (1-3, 7.04) is the scheduled starter for Nashville. Brad Peacock (2-2, 3.38) will throw for the RedHawks.
