Doctor Who fans
It’s the 50th anniversary of “Doctor Who” in 2013, and gift ideas range from comics to toys to accessories and more. Some highlights:
“Doctor Who: The Complete Series 1-7 Limited Edition Blu-ray Gift Set” contains all episodes since the show’s revival in 2005. The set has a suggested retail price of $349.98. It also features several extras, including a universal remote control shaped like the Doctor’s sonic screwdriver.

Batman fans
“Batman: The Brave And The Bold — The Complete First Season Blu-ray” follows a lighter interpretation of Batman from producer James Tucker. Diedrich Bader (“The Drew Carey Show”) voices the Caped Crusader in this animated series season from 2008-09, finally released in a full-season package. The 26-episode season is presented in 1080p High Definition. It’s available at Warner Archive.com for $24.95.
“Injustice: Gods Among Us: Ultimate Edition” has been released in a new edition containing the original game, plus all the downloadable content that was released for it. The superhero battling game has a suggested retail price of $59.99 for PS4™ system, PS3™ system and Xbox 360, $49.99 for Windows PC and $39.99 for PS®Vita.
is based on the art of the current “Batman” artist and sculpted by Jonathan Matthews. It measures about 8.2 inches high, 4.75 inches wide and 3 inches deep. It retails for $79.95 and can be found at comic-book and specialty stores.
Literary comics fans
“Magic Words: The Extraordinary Life of Alan Moore” follows the life of the noted “Watchmen” author from his youth to becoming one of the world’s top comic-book writers. Lance Parkin writes the unauthorized biography, which retails for $29.95.
Jeff Smith (“Bone”) crafts an adult-oriented story of a dimensionjumping thief in now available in one large hardcover volume that retails for $39.95.
is edited by Smith and contains top-notch comics from talents including Alison Bechdel and Craig Thompson. The hardcover retails for $25. Jessica Abel and Matt Madden return as series editors for the final time.
