From fairs and festivals to rodeos and ballgames, Labor Day weekend offers one last chance to celebrate summer before autumn takes hold.
There are three days in the holiday weekend — Saturday through Monday — and Oklahoma communities, venues and Indian tribes are planning many events to fill those days.
From wiggling out loud in Oklahoma City or doing the chicken dance in Choctaw to getting the blues in Rentiesville or fiddling around in Grove, here is a partial list of the holiday weekend’s entertainment options. Take in a variety of artwork at 125 booths, live music from Boyd Street Brass Band and the Oklahoma City Philharmonic, Sunday night fireworks, children’s activities and more at the 37th annual festival at Oklahoma City Community College, 7777 S May Ave. Hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday. What’s summer without a little baseball? Cheer on the OKC Dodgers as they close out the regular season at 7:05 p.m. Saturday, 2:05 p.m. Sunday and 11:05 a.m. Monday at the Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, 2 S Mickey Mantle Drive. Information: 2181000 or www.okcdodgers.com.
Oklahoma City’s third annual kindie rock festival will feature Trout Fishing in America, Sugar Free Allstars, Adam & Kizzie, 123 Andres, Dino O’Dell, Spaghetti Eddie and others from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Bicentennial Park, 500 Couch Drive. Information: wiggleoutloud.com.
Take in authentic German food, beer and entertainment at the 25th annual festival in Choctaw Creek Park, 2001 Harper Road. Hours this weekend are noon to midnight Saturday and Sunday and noon to midnight Monday, with the festivities continuing Tuesday through Sept. 12. Information: www.oldgermany.com.

Jam along with fellow fiddlers, take workshops or just hear the music when the famed bluegrass fiddler and “Hee Haw” regular hosts her yearly camp. Catch Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association-sanctioned events, a parade, carnival and concerts by Jason Boland & The Stragglers and Tracy Lawrence at this 77th annual event through Sunday at Beutler Brothers Rodeo Arena in Ackley Park. Take in Cherokee arts and crafts, music, storytelling, traditional games and other cultural activities at the 63rd annual homecoming event taking place at various locations around the historic Cherokee Nation capital. Take in rodeo action, live blues music, a parade, street dance and more at this long-running annual event at various locations in Arcadia. The festivities start at noon Saturday and Sunday. Information: www.townofarcadia.com.
Experience Choctaw cultural exhibits, arts and crafts, stickball games, carnival rides and live music from Oklahoma native Reba McEntire and fellow country music stars Easton Corbin, Neal McCoy and Chris Young at the 68th annual festival. One of the biggest Labor Day events in the state, the festivities include a carnival, parade, live music, games, fireworks and more from about 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday all around the town. Plus, the community is hosting its annual Living Legends Rodeo this weekend, with the action starting at 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Nichols Park. The fair winds down Saturday with a carnival, food contests, livestock shows and free concerts with Whiskey Tom and Mike McClure Band.
