Dell Computers has qualified to reap up to $5.3 million in state incentive money for creating up to 321 new jobs in Oklahoma City during the next 10 years through Oklahoma’s Quality Jobs Program.

Dell qualified for quarterly cash payroll rebates through the Quality Jobs Program for continued growth at its Oklahoma City Campus, said Oklahoma Department of Commerce spokeswoman Leslie Blair.

Dell has been a long-time participant in the Quality Jobs Program. The company had already earned more than $22.8 million in Quality jobs incentive payments as of the end of 2013, according to the most recent data available.

The payments are performance-based and Dell will only receive cash payments based on the number of actual new jobs the company creates in Oklahoma City, said David Frink, a spokesman for Dell.

“We haven’t committed to creating those jobs, but that growth is possible,” Frink said. “It’s all performance-based and if we don’t achieve that growth, nothing happens and we don’t get the money.”

Dell currently employs about 1,500 people at its Oklahoma City campus, Frink said.

Dell is one of seven companies that Oklahoma has inked new job creation deals with through the Quality Jobs Program, the Oklahoma Department of Commerce said Friday.
