OSU homecoming yearbook proceeds to benefit victims

- FROM STAFF REPORTS

STILLWATER — The 2015 Oklahoma State University homecoming yearbook is now available to purchase online and at several Stillwater locations, according to a news release.

Because this year’s homecoming was marred by tragedy, a special section of the book has been dedicated to those who lost their lives when a vehicle crashed into a crowd at the annual parade. And 100 percent of the profits from sales of the book will benefit the victims and their families.

The yearbook staff is dedicated to celebrating the other aspects of homecoming and decided to proceed with its initial plans to showcase the hard work that went into this year’s celebration.

O’Colly adviser Barbara Allen said it’s best to not forget why OSU’s homecoming is so special.

“What happened at this year’s homecoming was a travesty, and we will not forget the victims who were affected by the incident,” Allen said. “But we don’t want to let what happened define OSU homecoming as a whole. Homecoming is a celebration, and we still want to highlight the accomplishments of our students, faculty and alumni.”

The book details all of the 2015 homecoming festivities, from Football Frenzy to Walkaround to the game itself. A team of student writers and photographers documented the events so every aspect of homecoming could be included in the final product.

A significant portion of the book will highlight the accomplishments of Greek life. Each Greek pairing will have its own chapter, which will include activities leading up to Walkaround and a full photo spread of the house decorations.

The Greek pairing that purchased the most OSU homecoming yearbooks, Gamma Phi Beta and Phi Gamma Delta, won $250 and this year’s yearbook cover.

The yearbook is available to purchase at loyal andtrue.org for $19.99.
