BIG READ FEATURES ‘HOT’ BOOK

-

“five unavoidable givens” that come to visit each of us as we go through life: “Everything changes and ends. Things do not always go according to plan. Life is not fair. Pain is part of life. People are not loving and loyal all the time.”

Richo believes the “five givens” are not actually the bad news they appear to be. Rather, it is our fear and struggle against the givens that becomes the source of our troubles. He believes that once we learn to accept and embrace these fundamental facts of life, they help us gain courage, compassion and wisdom.

I agree with David Richo and several years ago I wrote a little book about the three major unexpected and life-changing events in my own life and titled it “It’s Called Life: Living, Loving, Hurting, Changing.”

I now understand the glass is never half empty or half full. It is always both. Accepting difficult events as part of our life journey helps us move through the rough passages and find new life on the other side.

Now what?
