PARKING OPTIONS ABOUND FOR FESTIVAL OF ARTS

RECEPTION PLANNED FOR CAPITOL EXHIBIT

“Her Favorite Negatives, in Print,” an exhibit by Patricia Isbell, a photograph­er based in Chickasha, is on display at the state Capitol’s North Gallery, located on the first floor.

Isbell’s photograph­y has been exhibited in the Paseo Arts District and published in Outdoor Oklahoma magazine. It has been added to the permanent collection at St. Anthony Hospital in Shawnee.

A public reception is planned from 4 to 6 p.m. May 24. Refreshmen­ts will be provided. The exhibit will be on display through June 5. For more informatio­n, go to arts. ok.gov.

There are multiple parking options for the 2016 Festival of the Arts, set for April 19-24 at Bicentenni­al Park, 500 Couch Drive. Buses, a shuttle and new parking garages will be available for festivalgo­ers.

TIBETAN SCHOLARS CREATE, DISCUSS SAND MANDALAS

NORMAN —

Tibetan scholars will discuss and demonstrat­e the creation of sand mandalas from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 235 W Duffy. Lectures and Q&A sessions will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. daily on topics related to Tibetan culture.

Guests can come and go and converse with the scholars while the mandala is created. A practice table will be set up so guests can work with the same materials. At a closing ceremony Saturday, the mandala will be swept up, and attendees will receive satchels of sand to take home.

2 SPRING CONCERTS PLANNED AT USAO

CHICKASHA —

The University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma’s concert and jazz bands will present a joint spring concert, “Classical Thunder: Jazz Lightning,” at 7:30 p.m. Monday in Te Ata Memorial Auditorium.

The concert band will showcase 20th-century works that are considered to be at once powerful and recognizab­le. The bands include students from nine academic majors.

The annual Concert Choir Spring Concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Alumni Chapel. The concert choir is a mixed men’s and women’s ensemble from numerous majors. Music from Brazil, Panama and Portugal will be performed in original languages.
