Oklahoma City Museum of Art’s rooftop opens for Art After 5

- FROM STAFF REPORTS

The Roof Terrace at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art will open for the season Thursday as part of Art After 5, a weekly event at the museum.

Starting this week, and almost every Thursday through late October, guests can enjoy live music, a full bar, beautiful views and access to the museum’s galleries for only $5 after 5 p.m.

“While our galleries are open Thursday nights year-round, our Roof Terrace is a fun seasonal aspect of the museum,” President and CEO E. Michael Whittington said. “Not only can visitors enjoy access to our permanent collection, but they can also have a cocktail on the roof, enjoy live music and take in spectacular views of downtown.”

The Roof Terrace will be open from 5 to 10:30 p.m., with last call for drinks at 10 p.m.

The special exhibition “Matisse in His Time: Masterworks of Modernism From the Centre Pompidou, Paris” will be on view during Art After 5 beginning June 23.

“Matisse in His Time” will include 100 works of art, including nearly 50 paintings, sculptures and works on paper by Henri Matisse, as well as masterworks by his contemporaries — Pablo Picasso, Juan Gris, Georges Braque, Andre Derain, Fernand Leger and Amadeo Modigliani.

High temperatures, wind or storm warnings may affect the opening of the Roof Terrace. Visitors can sign up for Roof Terrace email alerts at okcmoa.com to receive updates on weather-related delays and closings.
