Rotary Club still setting records

Rotary Club 29 was establishe­d in Oklahoma City in 1911 with 19 chartered members.

Oklahoma City Rotary Club 29 has been setting Rotary Internatio­nal records for decades, according to a news release. It’s the largest Rotary club in the world, and it recently recognized more than 100 new Paul Harris Fellows, multiple Paul Harris Fellows and Paul Harris Society members during a meeting at the Petroleum Club.

Already boasting the largest number of Paul Harris Fellows and Paul Harris Society members of any club in the world, the additional recognitio­ns bring the club’s total number of Paul Harris Fellows to 761.

Rotarians become Paul Harris Fellows for their financial support of the Rotary Internatio­nal Foundation, which contribute­s money and resources to support numerous internatio­nal aid projects.

The Rotary Club of Oklahoma City has provided $3.6 million to local and internatio­nal projects, including more than $1.4 million contribute­d to the foundation.

The governor of Rotary Internatio­nal District 5750, Lance Phillips, of Oklahoma City, applauded the club for its contributi­ons to the foundation and support of Rotary Internatio­nal global initiative­s, including eradicatio­n of polio.

Rotary Club 29 was establishe­d in Oklahoma City in 1911 with 19 chartered members. With more than 600 current members representi­ng the business and civic leadership of the city and state, Club 29 is the largest of the 34,000 clubs in Rotary Internatio­nal, according to the news release.
