Rotary Club still setting records
Rotary Club 29 was established in Oklahoma City in 1911 with 19 chartered members.
Oklahoma City Rotary Club 29 has been setting Rotary International records for decades, according to a news release. It’s the largest Rotary club in the world, and it recently recognized more than 100 new Paul Harris Fellows, multiple Paul Harris Fellows and Paul Harris Society members during a meeting at the Petroleum Club.
Already boasting the largest number of Paul Harris Fellows and Paul Harris Society members of any club in the world, the additional recognitions bring the club’s total number of Paul Harris Fellows to 761.
Rotarians become Paul Harris Fellows for their financial support of the Rotary International Foundation, which contributes money and resources to support numerous international aid projects.
The Rotary Club of Oklahoma City has provided $3.6 million to local and international projects, including more than $1.4 million contributed to the foundation.
The governor of Rotary International District 5750, Lance Phillips, of Oklahoma City, applauded the club for its contributions to the foundation and support of Rotary International global initiatives, including eradication of polio.
Rotary Club 29 was established in Oklahoma City in 1911 with 19 chartered members. With more than 600 current members representing the business and civic leadership of the city and state, Club 29 is the largest of the 34,000 clubs in Rotary International, according to the news release.
