Blackmon pleads guilty to DUI charge

-

Former Oklahoma State receiver Justin Blackmon has pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count of driving under the influence following a December arrest, online court records show.

Blackmon — the winner of consecutive Biletnikoff Awards who recorded more than 3,300 yards receiving and 38 touchdowns over his final two seasons at OSU — was pulled over about 4 a.m. Dec. 19 in Ardmore, according to a police report.

The arresting officer said Blackmon smelled of alcohol, failed several field sobriety tests and declined to take a breath test. He is scheduled for sentencing at 2 p.m. on June 8 in Carter County. Blackmon faces up to $1,000 in fines and one year in prison, according to state law.

This marks Blackmon’s third DUI arrest in six years, however, he was not charged as a multiple offender.

In 2010, Blackmon was pulled over for speeding outside Dallas and arrested on a DUI complaint that was later reduced to an underage alcohol possession charge. Two months after being selected No. 5 overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2012 NFL Draft, he pleaded guilty to an aggravated DUI charge resulting from a June traffic stop in Stillwater where his blood-alcohol level registered .24 and .26 from a police issued breath test. That charge was expunged from Blackmon’s record one year later after the completion of his probation terms.

Blackmon was also arrested in July 2014 for marijuana possession in Edmond, but his charge was reduced to a misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct.

Blackmon is currently on indefinite suspension from the NFL.
