Mason Harrell’s 47 points lead Carl Albert past Midwest City

Harrell, a 5-foot-8 point guard, had 47 points, hitting three of his six 3-pointers during a second-half run that helped the Titans stretch the lead to 21.

Hopkins scored 27, with nine coming in the fourth quarter to help the Titans hold off a Bomber threat that cut the lead to 10 in the final minutes.

“It’s a city rivalry, so we kinda took it personal,” Harrell said. “We wanted to come out and make a statement.”

Embery hit the 30-point mark for the third time this week, finishing with 39 for Class 6A No. 3 Midwest City.

Carl Albert, ranked No. 1 in 5A, improved to 14-0. The Titans will face 6A No. 2 Edmond North at 7 p.m. Saturday in the championsh­ip game. Edmond North was a 78-63 winner over Norman in the semifinals.

A few good minutes out of the gate was all Kingfisher needed to take control of the game and ultimately upset Class 4A No. 4 Harrah, 67-48, at the Buckle of the Wheatbelt Tournament in Kingfisher.

The Yellowjack­ets exploded to a 20-4 lead and never saw the difference dip below double-figures as four Kingfisher players scored 10 or more points. Sophomore

led the way with 23 points and added 16. had 14 and 11 for Kingfisher, which advances to the championsh­ip game against Heritage Hall at 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

“We felt like if we could move them out to half-court and make the guard, it was an advantage for us,” Kingfisher coach said. “And then we shot the ball well from the 3-point line. It’s really the first game where all of our kids played well, which we’ve kind of been waiting for all year.”

Harrah’s 6-foot-8 Oklahoma signee, had 21 points.

Heritage Hall advanced to the final with a 71-49 win over Bethany. led the Chargers with 24 points, while added 17 and had 13.

Mount St. Mary rolled to an 89-57 win over host Purcell in the Heart of Oklahoma Tournament and will face Tuttle for the title at 6:30 p.m. Saturday… Class 5A No. 8 Shawnee upset No. 3 El Reno 87-67 to advance to the finals of the Shawnee Invitation­al at 8:30 p.m. Saturday. The Wolves will face the winner of the late game between Stillwater and Norman North.
