‘Good Faith’ authors to speak at OC
Best-selling authors David Kinnaman and Gabe Lyons will present the “Good Faith Live” seminar at 7 p.m. Monday at Oklahoma Christian University, 2501 E Memorial Road.
The men will discuss engaging a culture that sees Christianity as irrelevant and extreme.
Sponsored by OC’s Intergenerational Faith Center, the seminar will focus on relevant research and reveal significant cultural trends that create both obstacles and opportunities for Christians.
The conversation is rooted in the authors’ latest book “Good Faith: Being a Christian When Society Thinks You’re Irrelevant and Extreme,” a guide to help Christians understand the heart behind opposing views and show them how to be loving friends despite profound differences. Kinnaman and Lyons previously coauthored the bestselling book” unChristian.”
“We have had Kinnaman and Lyons on our campus before. They bring great insight about the current culture as it mixes with religion and church. I hope many church leaders take advantage of this opportunity to get close and get informed,” said Dudley Chancey, professor of Bible at Oklahoma Christian and director of OC’s Intergenerational Faith Center.
Kinnaman is the author of “You Lost Me” and the president of Barna Group, a research and communications company that works with churches, nonprofits and businesses ranging from film studios to financial services. He has directed interviews with nearly one million individuals and overseen hundreds of U.S. and global research studies.
Lyons is the author of “The Next Christians” and the founder of Q, a learning community that educates and mobilizes Christians to think well and advance good in society.
This will be the fifth installment of the IFC Dialogues and the second visit to Oklahoma Christian for both Kinnaman and Lyons. Kinnaman worked alongside OC’s Intergenerational Faith Center to launch the firstever IFC Dialogues in 2011. Lyons keynoted the event in 2012.
