Norman North loss to BA ends Trae Young’s high school career

Norman North career came to a close on Saturday night with a 93-79 loss to Broken Arrow in an area consolatio­n game at Bixby.

Young scored 41 points to close his career in the No. 12 spot on the state’s all-time scoring list. He passed of Hammon and of New Lima on Saturday, according to IWasAtTheG­ame.com.

Young’s 2,896 career points are the most by a Class 6A player in state history by a margin of more than 600 points.

The Putnam City West guard scored 29 points Saturday night to lead the defending Class 6A champion to a 75-59 win over Edmond Santa Fe in an area consolatio­n final at Deer Creek.

The win earned the Pats their fifth consecutiv­e trip to the state tournament. PC West trailed 30-27 at halftime, but opened the third quarter with a 19-2 run to take control of the game.

“We didn’t want to go home,” Jackson said. “We weren’t playing too good on defense at the beginning of the game, but we started playing defense.
