Special youth turkey hunts available through Wildlife Department
The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation will select 10 hunters for a special youth turkey hunt on April 1 in Love County.
To be eligible, youths must have completed their hunter education requirements before applying and must be ages 12 to 17 at the time of the scheduled hunt.
Food and overnight accommodations will be provided by the Samuel Roberts Noble Foundation for selected participants. Applications must be submitted online before the end of Friday.
“This hunt is on private property and should provide young hunters a great opportunity to see some turkey as well as a chance to harvest a tom,” said Bill

Logan County NWTF Chapter schedules fundraiser
The Logan County Longbeards Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation will hold its annual fundraising banquet Saturday at Crescent High School.
Doors will open at 6 p.m. with dinner served at 7:15 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door.
Prices are $45 for individuals, $55 for couples and $10 for ages 17 and younger.

Great Outdoors Workshop scheduled at Chickasaw National Recreation Area
The Chickasaw National Recreation Area in Sulphur will conduct a “Great Outdoors Workshop” on March 18 from 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Park rangers will lead morning and afternoon sessions on camping, identifying animal tracks, birding, wildscaping, nature journaling and fishing.

Safari Club to hold banquet March 18 in Norman
The Oklahoma Station Chapter of Safari Club International will hold its 32nd annual convention banquet and fundraising auction on March 18 at the Embassy Suites in Norman.
Banquet tickets include dinner and the opportunity to bid on more than 30 hunting and fishing trips in the United States and around the world.
Eighty percent of the funds earned by the Oklahoma chapter stays in the state, said Larry Gerads, the chapter’s marketing director.

Red Slough Birding Convention set for May
The ninth annual Red Slough Birding Convention will be held May 6-9 in McCurtain County.
Hosted by the Idabel Chamber of Commerce, the birding convention pairs both beginning and advanced bird watchers with an experienced tour guide to explore three of McCurtain County’s diverse conservation areas: the Red Slough Wildlife Management Area, the Little River Wildlife Refuge and McCurtain County Wilderness Area.
