Former Washington wideout John Ross breaks NFL combine’s 40 record

Washington receiver John

Ross III has run the 40-yard dash in a record-setting 4.22 seconds at the NFL scouting combine.

Ross completed the feat on his first attempt Saturday, breaking Chris Johnson’s record of 4.24 seconds in 2008.

While Ross was winding down, he appeared to hurt his left leg. The NFL Network reported that Ross wouldn’t do any more drills during the workout because of sore calves.

Foster kicked out of combine

If linebacker Reuben Foster is worried that he hurt his draft stock by getting kicked out of the NFL’s scouting combine he isn’t showing it.

The former Alabama star posted a live video on Instagram on Saturday, but he demurred when fans asked about him getting sent home allegedly for getting into a heated confrontation with a hospital worker over his long wait time.

In his video chat, Foster also addressed the recent surgery on his right rotator cuff that took him out of physical drills at the combine. He said he’d be out of the sling in a week.

Romo won’t be a Redskin

Jerry Jones has no idea how the team’s impending decision regarding the future of quarterback Tony Romo is going to play out. Jones said there was no factual basis to a three-way trade rumor involving the Washington Redskins and San Francisco 49ers that would have Romo ending up with the Redskins.

Secondly, the idea of Romo ending up in Washington is a non-starter for Jones. He wouldn’t trade Romo to a division rival, and there is an unspoken understanding that Romo wouldn’t sign with the Redskins as a free agent if he was released.

Niners extend WR Kerley

The San Francisco 49ers have agreed to a three-year contract extension with wide receiver Jeremy Kerley. General Manager John

Lynch on Saturday lauded Kerley as a “true pro.”

He said the team was “really impressed” with Kerley on the field and in the locker room, and that he’s seen as a “great fit for our scheme.”
