Baseball

Chaz Orr, Washington

Washington senior Chaz Orr stepped to the plate on April 18 with two outs and the bases loaded. His entire team had confidence he would deliver.

“He’s been nails for us,” Washington coach Nick Blackburn said.

Orr did come through with a double that cleared the bases for a walk-off, 6-5 victory over Class 2A’s No. 3-ranked Latta.

Orr, considered the heart and soul of the team, also pitched that game and kept the Warriors in it. He allowed eight hits and five runs while striking out six in seven innings.

In Thursday’s 2-1 eightinning win over Bridge Creek, he went 1 for 2 with a walk. He was also hit by a pitch.

Washington, ranked No. 7 in Class 3A, has a bye in this week’s district playoff round.

Boys soccer

Josh Berney, McGuinness

Senior Josh Berney delivered a hat trick in the Irish’s latest outing against Duncan on Friday.

Berney’s goals fueled a 7-1 win to keep the Irish perfect in district play and improved their record to 10-1.

Whether it be scoring or assisting, Berney is a vital part to the attack

McGuinness resumes action against Altus on Tuesday.

Girls soccer

Allyson Pamplin, Westmoore

Senior Allyson Pamplin had a productive week, helping Westmoore extend its win streak to three games.

Pamplin assisted Chaning Jones in Westmoore’s 2-0 win over Deer Creek on April 18. She then scored two goals in a 4-0 win over Sapulpa on Friday.

Westmoore plays its regular season finale at Jenks on Tuesday.

Jack Sergent, Classen

Sergent won No. 1 singles at the All-City Tournament. He also won the exhibition tournament vs. Western Heights on Monday.

He finished sixth in No. 1 singles at the 2016 state championship, and he enters this weekend’s regional qualifiers once again as one of the top singles players in the state.

Girls tennis

Lauren Harvey, Heritage Hall

Mondays might be the longest day of the week for most, but Harvey enjoys playing on those days.

She won the Class 5A East/West Showdown in No. 2 singles on April 17. The win came a week after she won the Edmond North Tournament.

Slowpitch softball

Sydnee Ramsey, Westmoore

No matter the situation, Moore wasn’t going to let Sydnee Ramsey beat it last week. Despite receiving the Barry Bonds treatment, she and Westmoore still won 20-18.

Ramsey, a Kansas signee, was intentionally walked in all five plate appearances and she scored four runs.

Earlier in the week, Ramsey hit a homer and drove in three against Norman North.
