Sooners lose third football commitment

Another recruit has decommitte­d from Oklahoma.

Theo Wease, a 2019 wide receiver from Allen, Texas, became the third player to change his mind in as many days. He made his announceme­nt Monday night on Twitter.

“Oklahoma has a great program and will remain in my top schools,” Wease wrote. “However, I made a lifetime decision too early and I need more time to think about what’s best for both myself and family.”

The string of decommits for Oklahoma began Saturday, when 2018 quarterbac­k Cameron Rising not only withdrew his commitment but flipped to Texas.

Henderson decommitte­d. OU now has five 2018 commitment­s and no commits for the 2019 class.

OSU leads at Big 12 golf

Oklahoma State men’s golf leads by four strokes after day one of the Big 12 Championsh­ips in Hutchinson, Kansas.

OSU shot 302, four strokes better than Kansas. Oklahoma was fourth, six strokes back.

Kansas’ Daniel Hudson was the leading individual after shooting 72. OSU’s Viktor

Hovland and OU’s Brad Dalke were part of a four-way tie for second after shooting 73.

The teams will play 36-holes Tuesday with the first tee times starting at 8 a.m.

Oklahoma City FC announces tryouts

Oklahoma City FC, which is a member of the Women’s Premier Soccer League, is hosting tryouts on April 30 and May 7.

Zach Bice and Evan Dresel return as the club’s coaches. Bice and Dresel, who are also the head coaches for Mid-America Christian University men’s and women’s soccer, led Oklahoma City FC to a 9-3-2 record in 2016.

Energy U-23 add two OFC alumni

OKC Energy U-23 have added two Oklahoma Football Club alumni to its squad for the upcoming 2017 season.

Forward Matthew Puig and goalkeeper Cooper Clark will play for the Energy U-23 this summer. Puig, who played high school at Deer Creek, led the University of Tulsa in scoring with eight goals during his freshman season last fall. Clark, who is graduating from Norman High School this spring, is committed to Tulsa.

Energy U-23 open its season May 10 at Tulsa Athletic during the first round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
