Chiefs sign Reid to extension

The Chiefs have given coach Andy Reid a contract extension and parted ways with general manager John

Dorsey, making two massive decisions on what is typically a quiet week in the offseason.

The Chiefs did not say who would take over the GM duties on an interim basis.

Sheahon Zenger says plans to renovate Memorial Stadium and build an indoor training facility are moving forward and will cost around $300 million.

The Kansas City Star reports that Zenger made the announceme­nt Wednesday night at a meet-and-greet event for the football team at a Kansas City, Missouri, bar. He says architectu­ral drawings are in the works and will be released to the public in September.

Robertson ordered to trial

Robertson has been ordered to trial on sexual assault charges.

A 20-year-old woman testified Thursday that Robertson raped her at her off-campus apartment in April. The defensive end from Fort Wayne, Indiana, was kicked off the team after he was charged.

Springer suffers hand contusion

Houston Astros outfielder

George Springer suffered a left hand contusion after being struck by a 92-mph fastball from Jesse Hahn leading off Thursday against the Oakland Athletics.

The ball grazed Springer's left shoulder. Springer is tied for second in the American league with 21 home runs. His status is day-to-day.
