Oklahoma County prosecutors Wednesday charged the man who police say admitted to shooting a former coworker in the parking lot of an Edmond business.

Quinton Le’Tres Bruner, 29, of Oklahoma City, was charged with assault and battery with a deadly weapon, a felony. The shooting occurred early Aug. 8 after the victim, Robert Wilson, parked his vehicle at Pelco Products, a manufacturer of traffic lights and streetlights.

Police reported Bruner had been harassing the victim in the months before the shooting through threatening phone calls and text messages.

Bruner was hired four years ago through a temp agency. He worked three days in the warehouse and then quit showing up, a company spokesman said.

Bruner told police he felt Wilson was “bullying” him when he worked there, police reported.

The victim was shot twice. He then made it to the loading dock of the business where coworkers rendered aid. He was taken to a hospital and released the same day.

Detectives identified Bruner as a suspect by tracing the phone used to make the threats, police reported. When police detectives interviewed Bruner, he confessed to shooting Wilson, police reported. Bruner also admitted to texting and calling the victim, police reported.

During a search of Bruner’s home, detectives found the phone and a handgun, police reported. He was being held Wednesday in the Oklahoma County jail on $25,000 bail.

In 2010, Bruner was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon after he struck a man with his 1988 Cadillac in the drive-thru lane of a Wendy’s in Oklahoma City. Police reported the men had a verbal argument before the incident.

Bruner pleaded guilty in that case. He was sentenced to five years probation and 12 weekends in jail, records show.
