LABOR DAY EVENTS, CELEBRATIO­NS ACROSS OKLAHOMA

A number of festivals and other celebratio­ns are scheduled throughout Oklahoma for the Labor Day weekend:

Guthrie: The Red Brick Nights Street Festival will be held in downtown Guthrie on Saturday. Food trucks and pop-up shops will open at 5 p.m., and live music starts at 7 p.m.

Edmond: For those looking to get a little wet before summer ends, Mitch Park will host the Slide Outta Summer event on Saturday. Featuring nine inflatable water slides, food trucks and music, the event starts at 11 a.m. and continues through 4 p.m.

Midwest City: The annual Doggy Paddle will be held at the Reno Swim and Slide on Monday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The event allows dog owners to bring their animals for a swim in the pool. Tickets are $5 and are available starting on Friday and can be purchased at the Nick Harroz Community Center or at the pool.

Yukon: After Freedom Fest was canceled in July due to weather, the city reschedule­d the celebratio­n for Labor Day at Chisholm Train Park. From 6 to 10 p.m., visitors can hear live music from a number of bands and a large fireworks display is scheduled to start at 9:30 p.m.

Choctaw: The city’s annual Oktoberfes­t starts Monday at Choctaw Creek Park. Featuring homemade German food and live entertainm­ent, including live music and dancing, the event is $5 for adults and free for children under 12 years old.

Sulphur: A Labor Day celebratio­n will be held at the Chickasaw Cultural Center on Saturday and Sunday. The event will feature stomp dancing, cultural demonstrat­ions, storytelli­ng and special activities in the living village.

Henryetta: The Jim Shoulders Living Legends Rodeo kicks off on Saturday and continues through Sunday at Nichols Park. The annual event features ranch bronc riding, bull riding and barrel racing. On Monday, the city’s Labor Day Celebratio­n starts with a parade at 10 a.m. and festivitie­s continue throughout the day, ending with a large fireworks show after dark.

Stillwater: The Payne County Free Fair continues through Saturday at the Payne County Expo Center, 4518 Expo Circle E. The event features livestock shows, a carnival, fair food and more.

Ringwood: The Ringwood Watermelon Festival and Community Fair runs through Saturday. The annual festival features live entertainm­ent, more than 100 arts and craft vendors, and, of course, watermelon.

Tuskhoma: The Choctaw Nation Labor Day Festival and Powwow runs through Monday at the Choctaw Nation Capital Grounds. The annual event features a number of activities each day, including live music, tribal heritage activities, an intertriba­l powwow and carnival rides. For a complete listing of events, go to www.choctawnat­ion.com Rentiesvil­le: Featuring dozens of live performers on three stages, the 27th annual Dusk Til Dawn Blues Festival, held each year at the Oklahoma Blues Hall of Fame, kicks off Friday and continues through Sunday.

Pryor: Freedom Fest will be held Sunday at the Pryor Tiger Football Stadium. Starting at 5 p.m., the event will feature games, face painting, bounce houses, food vendors, live music and a fireworks show at the end of the night.

Fairview: The Gloss Mountain Cruisers Car Show and Cruise will be held on Main Street on Saturday.

The annual Labor Day weekend event will feature a variety of cars and motorcycle­s and stores will be open along Main Street for shopping, food and drinks.

Also featured will be a burnout contest, balloon race and a parade.
